I had driven my dad to Pensacola for an appointment. He was treating me to Shrimp Basket for lunch. I ordered a half dozen raw oysters on the half shell (even though it wasn't Oyster Tuesday) and a cup of seafood gumbo. Mmm...both tasted particularly delicious! As I waltzed back to the table after using the restroom, one of the waitresses chimed, "Your outfit is so cute!" Another added, "And she had oysters." Then they both advised that I come back on Oyster Tuesday when oysters are only .79 a piece. The little exchange left me bemused and delighted. The outfit was very normal by the way: black and white spotted dress, cranberry colored leggings, plain off-white sweatshirt and neutral sneakers. Occasionally I do get compliments on the dresses I wear, but this felt a bit more personal.
The following day I was behind the register at The Warehouse Market and Bakery. It was a busy day, with holiday shoppers streaming through. A small older lady caught my attention: snowy white hair, a blue and white gingham shirt over a solid medium blue shirt, simple necklace, blue jeans, and loafers. She was so put together in an understated way– fresh from Nantucket! "I love your outfit! You're so cute." I told her.
Later, I realized the words basically echoed the sentiment I'd received the previous day! What goes around, comes around. Like apples of gold in pictures of silver, lives are made beautiful by words that are fitly spoken.

Writing Prompt
November 19-December 3
Write about an intriguing person you’ve encountered in the past year. Paragraph, poem, essay etc
(“Encountered” is used intentionally—maybe you’ve only observed them across the room at a social gathering. Possibly sat beside this person on an airplane, or been fascinated with how they interacted with their companion at a coffee shop. Perhaps you’ve been briefly introduced, or maybe it’s someone you now consider a new friend!)
Thanks for this little writing, Rhonda!! It inspired me. And I could totally picture you in the outfit you described.😍
But no thanks on the oysters. I have tried them, but will be glad to let others enjoy this so called delicacy.
